The rug simulates tree roots. It is quite hard and quite rough, this surprised me about it, however it is very comfortable for the feet. It doesn't have a high pile, so it's easy to maintain (just knock it out or vacuum with a vacuum cleaner nozzle). The design is acceptable for me, eventually the kids will have it in their room, but more neutral colours and shapes can be chosen. It is a sensorimotor aid that stimulates the foot, promotes proper foot arches, helps improve lower limb stability, and children can practice balance on it.I have placed it in a strategic place in the passage between the living room and kitchen, so we go over it several times a day, and the children sometimes play on it."

How does it work?

When walking on a root carpet, the feet meet the protruding elements of the carpet, which form irregularly arranged roots. Like in the forest. Receptors in the feet "feel" them and activate muscles that would otherwise remain unengaged on a flat floor. In this simple way, we exercise the whole foot without having to do any targeted exercise.

This is essential for young children who are still building movement patterns.
